a part-time part

Emily felt fat. She always did these days because she was. At least when she looked at herself in the mirror.

Derrick never said it, but she could sense it. He was the lanky sort and sometimes, she did wonder if he was using. Something.

But really, everything was wonderful. She loved his loft. Hopefully, she'd move in and forget school. That is if she was permantly Crystal. And Crystal liked to leave him aloof.

Of course, Crystal didn't have an eating problem. She just didn't eat. It wasn't her style. She'd drink all the alcohol offered. Have some fun then go throw up.

Only it was leaving Emily damaged. She was dragging herself around. And she knew her mother had hoped she would have thought more seriously about going to beauty school. It was just she'd had a bad experience at one of the salons she almost worked at.

"Why, you're just a little girl." The manager had spoken down to her when she applied for the job. "We can't have someone without a degree. And besides you'd need to be the top of your class or line...if you want to work here."

"But I know how to cut hair." She had pictures, but they were pictures of Rosco. She could hardly stand to look at them. Of course, the more she was Crystal, he was just a stranger to her.

She was better than good. She knew that. Especially when it came to being a hairstylist. This was her dream now.

And then there was Crystal and Derrick. And she'd been coaxed into playing the part. Emily wouldn't call it another personality, exactly. It was just playing the part.

But just how far along would she go to play the part?

I'm liking this whole split personality thing. I guess it's like, she can't deal with things herself, so she brings someone else along to help.

wowwowwow, finally something more about emily!!! in your header, is emily the one in the bra and the mini skirt? she makes me shake my head. i agree with cady lola cep. she seems not to manage it on her own, so she just sheds her emily skin and slips into a crystal skin. i'm asking myself the same thing as you: how far along will emily go to play the part? because it seems that she has already gone pretty far, especially because she won't admit it to herself.

yeah, for how long? until when she can cope with the change she's doing to herself? feel bad for her. o_O but i sometimes do that. having a split personality or what you call it, playing a part of the other personality. lol. because i like hiding. shrug.

hmm, maybe my next header will have myself in it. i liked my current header pic though, it has such a glamourous air of the hollywood films of the 50s...

Seems to me like Emily is going through some double-personality disorder or something.

Get it straight, Emily, you're just messing up your life!

^^ Sorry. I get a little excited on this. Sometimes your story seems real.
Which I think is a good thing :)
