sooner or later

Something just didn't feel right to Gordy after the party. He felt sad and he hadn't wanted to be that way with Jane. He wanted her to have the best day ever. Of course, it really hadn't meant that much to her to hear her mother's voice.

"What's the matter?" Serena was cleaning up and Gordy felt lost in this misery.

"I don't know," Gordy couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with Bella. He didn't want to care, yet he did.

Rosco was helping with things as well and Carrie was there too, putting cake away in the fridge.

"Uh, Bella says Kal left her," Gordy told Rosco as if he'd want to know.

Rosco barely got out an "oh."

"Yeah, that sucks," Gordy knew Rosco hadn't heard from Kal. "I'm sure the dude is fine. Probably just needs some alone time."

"Guess so." Rosco kept sedated about the matter.

Gordy looked around one more time. His mother had left. He just wasn't sure if this was a good time to say it, but it had been eating away at him for sometime.

"So you got some time to talk?" Gordy didn't want to have this conversation years from now, but then he didn't want Rosco thinking he was nuts, either.

"Sure." Rosco shrugged. They went out side. Gordy thought he could definitely use a cigarette right now. Only he hadn't smoked since high school.

"You don't want to start a band." Rosco acted as if he knew what this was about.

"Not really, but you and Floyd go for it. And if this Carrie is on fire with the drums, she just might be your ticket."

Rosco nodded.

"But its not about that." Gordy sighed. "I want you to know. You really are an uncle to Jane."

"Well, thanks, but Emily and I aren't together anymore, so you know, I guess it wasn't meant to be." Rosco pushed his fingers through his dark hair and looked away.

"No, really..really, you are Jane's uncle." Gordy stared at him.

"What?" Rosco looked back at him and winced.

"Um, my Mom told me," Gordy started. "It seems your Dad is my Dad, but I never met him."

"My Dad?" Rosco laughed. "Uh, really?" Then it was if something was stuck in his throat.

"Yeah, thats what I thought you'd say." Gordy felt this was about the hardest conversation he'd ever started.

"Man, this is freak'n crazy." Rosco choked on another laugh. "My Mom would get on this obsession about my Dad not being there for us. That he had another family. Somewhere. It was horrible shit to grow up with. I just thought she was mad at him, you know for leaving her and whatever. I just kept thinking I never wanted anyone to say those things about me. I didn't want to be like him. I didn't. I didn't even want to know him." There were tears in Rosco eyes, he put his palms over his eyes and gasped. "Well, you didn't really miss much growing up without him."

It was quiet then for a while. Rosco let out another deep sigh.

"But you're such a great Dad," Rosco told him. "Don't you forget that. Don't stop being that, OK."
"Sure. I won't." Gordy bit his top lip. "So we're good."

"Yeah."

"I don't think its worth mentioning to my Mom," Gordy said. "Or even yours."

"Yeah, I'd like to keep it that way." Rosco looked at Gordy who grabbed his hand in a handshake then gave him a man hug.

"Sorry about things with Emily," Gordy then said.

Rosco just nodded. His eyes were red.

"I just want to stay out here for a while," Rosco said letting Gordy go.

"Sure. Thanks for coming." Gordy knew it would take some time. He guess he'd have to go by Bella's parents sooner or later.

another touching scene. at least Rosco was able to accept the truth or wasn't he? and also, glad Gordy had the courage to tell him. it really wasn't that easy.

So the truth is out.

I like how you made everything play out.

To answer your question, yes, the story is progressing, but more in a roundabout way . . . they're not "stuck" exactly, but the problem is more on Stefan-Chlaire's end than it is on Christopher's.

Aw, this was very touching, Cait.

Rosco will be a great uncle for Jane - as he already is.

But I'm guessing it should have been akward. Like Cate said, "rosco's dad is his ex-girlfriend's sister's ex-boyfriend's dad".
I bet he never saw THAT coming ^^
