Charlotte felt she and Derrick were at a new understanding of some kind. She'd stayed long after the show. She'd helped put all their equipment away. Then they'd gone to Village Inn for coffee and pancakes.

He'd talked about high school. How drunk he got the night before graduation, on graduation. "The worst weekend ever. And we thought we were so mature. God, it was sick, but great."

He made her smile, a little, but she felt miserable too. Her life was nothing like his, and honestly she didn't want to hear of it. Not really. He went to a prep school. His parents were rich, he was rich. But no one would ever know it with his black T-shirt and his skinny black jeans along with the black and white high-tops.

"Look, I know we haven't talked about library stuff, but there is something I want to ask you and its not about my gig at the library," He was finished with doing doodles on his napkin. "I have this proposition for you." He grinned.

Charlotte looked at him startled. What was he expecting a lap dance right here?

"What?" She winced.

"I saw that Anime style poster you did of me," Derrick told her. "It looks really cool and a lot like me." He faked a sly grin then. "Could you think up something for a T-shirt line?"

"T-shirts?"

"Yeah, I could sell them at the show or online. And hey, it would be much cooler than that dinosaur you're wearing." He smirked.

"Hmm," She had to bite her lip to keep from smiling. "I'll have to work up something, I guess then. Maybe if you could, you know, give me a slogan or something to work with. But I don't know how soon I could get it to you with the Summer Reading Program starting up."

"Yeah, is that today?" He laughed looking at his watch.

"It'll start soon." She nodded.

"No pressure."

Charlotte stared back at him thinking it was a good pressure. She could deal with it.
