going the distance

Charlotte was all smiles. It wouldn't be long til Rosco was home. Most of all, she knew he missed her.

She drew at posters and book markers for the young adult reading program. Parker was about to do his first book club. Catcher in the Rye. He was donned in his I'm with the banned.

"Now don't you look spiffy?" She looked up at him with a dazzling smile.

"Well, thank you." He smirked back that he was ready for this gig.

"You know, 90% of the club is girls."

"Girls?" He looked at her as if he hadn't a clue what she was talking about.

"Look." She shoved the list of people who had signed up. "All are about 15 maybe 16."

"Are you going-"

"Oh, now you're scared." She gave him an open grin.

"What if I'm no good at this?" He didn't look well to Charlotte. "I hate boring professors. I'm gonna be the boring professor, aren't I?" He was tense now.

"You'll do fine."

"I need you, Charlotte." She could hear his tense voice begging now.

"I know." She couldn't help but laugh.

He took a deep breath.

She followed him into the large meeting room where tables and chairs were already set up with a spread of sandwiches, iced drinks and cupcakes. She punched the cd player so some cool jazz would be playing once people started coming in.

Parker handed out name tags. He put one on himself.

Now that everyone was situated he pumped up the jazz a bit and started in as if he were at a poetry beat.

"If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth."* And suddenly he had them hook.

Of course, Charlotte knew he could have recited the alphabet, and they'd still be focused on him. Didn't he know those eyes of his kept each and everyone wanting one more look at those dark lashes.

It took me a while to catch up once I got my internet back. I can't believe how much I missed.
1. I think Bella and Emily balance each other.
2. I wish Derrick would move away.
3. Kat needs to get more publicly comfortable with her relationship with Parker.
4. Charlotte is doing well handling the "lonely" thing. And I'm really liking her friendship with Parker.
