Rosco wanted to stop thinking about Rachel but he couldn't. Maybe they could at least get through the holidays together. A part of him thought maybe it could be, but then he remembered how she transformed into this adult at the library, and he didn't think he was right for her. Then he'd start thinking about Charlotte and maybe that would work if he tried a little harder. It was just he didn't want to try. And he had this damn term paper to write, he was so bored with it at home in his room. Alone.

What did Charlotte want anyway?

"I don't know if I really like her," he told Rachel over the phone. "And you probably wouldn't want us going out, anyhow."

"Why not? Why couldn't you go out with her? Is it me thats keeping you from asking her out?" She sounded busy. He wished he hadn't called. She was probably changing a pamper or something. Maybe she was cleaning the kitchen or something.

"No. No. I just don't think she's my type." He shrugged turning another page in a book about an era he didn't want to even read about. "I miss you."

"Really?" She didn't sound that she believed him.

"Well, don't you miss me?"

"Yes. No. Look, I don't really think we should try-"

"Why? Don't act like you're so much older than me? I'm the same age you are. Almost. Its just-"

"Its hard," she said. "It is. I'm sorry about that, but you broke up with me, and I'm glad we did."

Her words hurt his ears. Sort of.

"You're glad we broke up?" Was she serious?

"You'll just either have to figure this out with Charlotte or take your chances with someone else. That's all there is to it." She sounded so final and it didn't sound like her at all.

"Are you seeing someone?" He asked point blank.

"Maybe."

"You either are or you aren't? Which is it?" He shut the library book too and waited.

"OK, I am."

"Anybody I know?" Rosco quizzed.

"I don't want to talk about it, right now." She hung up on him then.

Rosco bit his bottom lip then wondering if he'd asked far too many questions then.
