Bella didn't take it well. Fish's little explosion. It was the first time he'd done something, exactly like this. Was he mad at her?
She didn't understand. Completely. He wasn't like this before. Or was he? And now he was just showing his true colors after all this time.
"Well, he has a point," Emily said after Bella poured out her heart over the matter. She was practically in tears. "You are pretty much on a throne of some sort and where is that really getting you, lately?"
"What is that suppose to mean?"
"It means, you have to try harder. You have start doing some things yourself. For other people." Emily was busy with the laundry that Bella had neglected to do. "You needs some self reliance instead of being just completely selfish."
"That makes no sense what so ever." Bella looked at her stunned.
"Wake up, sister, you are a bitch." Emily almost laughed. "Granted, you go into that party, people are gonna look at you, and think, no way am I speaking to her. And yeah, I'll probably get the same look, too. But I'm going. Not to cause anyone grief. Perhaps to show Archie, I do have friends. Or did. And maybe if they see me with him, maybe it'll smooth out. Some day."
Bella swelled a frown.
"You don't have to go, you know." Emily told her. "If you'd like, I'd take Gib. Maybe you just want to stay home and rest. All right."
"No. I have to go. I have to." Bella knew she did complain too much, but really she just couldn't get happy over night, now could she?
