sharp tongues

They hadn't found an engagement ring. They had been looking.

"Its all right, its not like we have to have it next week," Archie had said. "I just want to know what you like."

Emily knew he'd surprise her. He wanted to know the size of her wedding band finger. Or so it seemed. Little hints perhaps of things to come. Of course, she wished they were laying together watching TV on the couch, but Archie was out looking under the hood of his car with Fish. Emily was having to put up with Bella who was fretting over the fact that Gib wasn't with her.

"He's fine. And you know it." Emily looked at her. "You have to relax. You have too."

Bella was pacing though. First she was going to make a chocolate cake, but cup cakes were better, and she still hadn't even found the cake mix yet, nor the filters for the cupcakes.

"You were never like this with Jane." Emily told her suddenly. She'd been so laid back and uncaring then. It felt rather cruel to Emily. How could she have been like that?

"Jane never liked me." Bella sounded so certain. "She cried from the very first time I held her, you know."

"I see." Emily didn't remember that.

"I knew we'd never get along."

"Well, she is trying now, you know. Its not like she's a teenager and a runaway. She's a little girl who wants to see you." Emily said.

"I know, and its like seeing Gordy, and..and, I dunno." Bella hugged herself.

"Well, Gordy doesn't understand how you can be this way, still." Emily watched as she combed out a wig she was suppose to cut for practice.

"Hello, I just had a baby," Bella was getting snippy.

"Maybe you need medication." Emily found herself saying.

"I am just fine." Bella winced looking for the cake mix once more. This time she'd found it. She set it down on the counter and stared at it.

"Did you apply for that job that Mom wanted you too?"

"No."

Emily thought maybe that had been a good thing. Bella and kids. It would have been too much.

"You and Fish make up?" It was Emily's last question.

"Well, he's still here, isn't he?" She gave Emily an angry look.

"Yeah, I guess, but I know how you are. You go through guys like fast food. You aren't going to hurt him, are you?"

"Oh, you are so immature," Bella scowled. "I'm not like that. You are like that."

"Well, maybe I learned it from you." Emily stared back at her as if she wasn't going to win this one.

Bella ignored her then as she got out the mixer and bowls and went on with her cake.

That is one funny morning, hahaha! Well, at least Archie and Fish are getting along.

I had the BEST day yesterday, lots of walking with the baby, in my new shoes. Doing a repeat of that today. Have a nice day yourself. xo

Archie is becoming friends with Fish! That's so awesome!
I want to make cupcakes someday too. I just have to find a recipe.
Oh... I don't think jane doesn't LIKE Bella. Maybe if Bella had cared about her more, she'd have liked her more. It's a mutual thing.
Bella and kids - no, I don't think that would work (at that workplace, I mean). She's still such a drama queen.
Sometimes it's hard to believe Bella and Emily are sisters.
