left in the cold

Rachel felt left out. Well, she'd felt that with Charlotte for a long time. Charlotte had Whitney for one thing. And they were inseparable, evidently. She could never make plans just with Charlotte. And now there was Parker.

She caught them laughing about something.

"This is no time for that," She looked over her black rimmed library glasses at the both of them.

"What is your problem?" Charlotte looked at Rachel then. She got out of Rachel's swivel computer chair then at the Young Adult desk.

"What if we don't have enough activities to do?" Rachel crossed her arms.

"We have enough activities." Charlotte looked at her blankly. Then Charlotte swelled a frown and said, "Look, Parker and I were going to go out for lunch, do you want to come with us?"

"Of course not," Rachel winced and got in her chair and on the computer.

"Its just the China buffet. We could maybe come up with a few more ideas, just in case." Parker told her.

"I don't think so. Chinese makes me sick." Rachel gave them an excuse. She just didn't feel up to it. After all, more people would see her pregnant. And she wasn't suppose to be showing yet, but she was. The humidity was already getting to her. "Just go, will you." She might as have told them the get out of her face.

Rachel needed to be left alone. This was a lot of stress. No one knew what sort of stress she was under. She had to make this summer reading program work. It had to be one people would remember.

Charlotte and Parker should stop off at the deli on their way back from lunch and pick up a hoagie for Rachel. She needs to eat.
