changes

"I don't think you're being fair." Serena told Whitney. "I thought you said you'd be there for Kal through anything."

Whitney had been crying most of the afternoon. She still wish she felt better about everything.

"Remember how you used to be at the diner about him? When you first met him? You were so sure you'd never see him, again. That he'd forget you. But he kept coming back. Usually, he'd order coffee."

"I always got him to order pie." Whitney reminded her.

"If you remembered." Serena looked at her. "You're head was always somewhere else when Kal was around."

Whitney just scowled.

They were waiting for something to turn blue in the bathroom.

"I don't know how he's going take this." Whitney shook her head.

"Well, he might leave, the way you've been acting. Floyd says he's like that when he gets all depressed. He just leaves because he gives up. You can't let him give up, Whitney. You know, you're not like that."

"Fine." She grabbed some lip gloss from the bathroom counter and put it on. Finally she looked over at the stick next to the toilet. It was blue.

She started crying all over, again. She wasn't sure if she was happy or sad. Maybe just scared.
