its a good feeling

Fish wasn't expecting a celebration, but Whitney and Serena had to decided an impromptu dinner before school started just for Fish.

"How did I get so lucky?" He was all smiles about it even if he could see Bella wasn't as they made it over to Floyd and Serena's last minute.

"Well, tomorrow is your big day," Whitney said as she was bringing out steaks right off the grill.

"Maybe we should be celebrating after I make it through one day." He couldn't stop smiling.

"You'll make it. You know, you've been working weeks now." Bella told everyone taking his hand.

"Yeah, so I can go to a different school every day of the week just to teach sixth grade band." Fish sighed. He then apologized for not being able to make it to Floyd and Kal's concert. He'd had to go some music thing workshop at the nearby university.

"So what do you do on the first day?" Serena put out the rolls and salads then.

"You don't want to know." Fish shook his head. "Just paperwork."

"Man, I am so glad I do not have your job." Floyd could barely hold in a laugh.

"Yeah, well, I'm sure there's a few kids who'd love to have you around to teach them guitar." Fish was all laid back, and he was enjoying the nice summer supper with ice cream cake waiting in the fridge.

He really felt like he had friends now. Not like his old ones, who were single and loved late nights and even later night shows. No, this felt like family. Friends you wanted your family to be with. And when he looked at Bella, it reminded him in a few months he was going to be some one's dad. He smiled then. He knew he was ready for it. He was even ready for this job.

Yeah, for Fish. You can tell he must be a cool friend if they did this for him.

Thanks for the note!

I've been pretty busy lately, so I haven't been able to read up on the story.

I'm surprised that Emily's getting married.

This is such a great heartfelt moment. Everything you said about friends and family is true.
The steaks coming off of the grill sure did sound good to me.
