plans

Things were looking up. Kal couldn't help smiling about it. Work was better than ever. And Derrick knew who he was now. He was somebody. Evidently. Which he hadn't had that feeling in a very long time. Only it made him all the more nervous. Just how long would something like this last?

"I'm going to see if we can get Whitney on where I work," Kal's mom told him out of the blue. There was an opening down at the insurance place. "It would be just answering phones. Some filing. Possibly some data entry."

It sounded good to Whitney. In fact she thought Kal's mom that she was being overly nice to her. "I'll work a few nights down at the coffee shop. Weekends too. You could quit at the grocery store."

"Woe, I don't want you over doing it." Kal liked that she wanted to help, but she didn't have too.

"But I want too." She made the future look bright. He could free up some nights to work in the studio like Derrick had asked.

"I guess, for a little while." Kal nodded. "I just want you to be happy." And he'd thought that would mean the two of them having a place of their own only that didn't look possible, anytime soon.
