Archie had plans of going home. Not permanently. There was the job at the hospital. It was keeping him more busy than usual, and he hadn't exactly found a place of his own. Of course, Emily kept occupying his time and well, things were a bit settled now. Maybe. Of course, he didn't want them too settled. He thought they should get married and be on their own. That would be the real test, wouldn't it?
"I'm thinking it would be a good time soon to check the house, you know. See if its OK." He'd mentioned to Emily more than once, and she was up for a weekend trip.
"Maybe we should ask to see if, you know, someone would want to go with us." Emily suggested.
"Like who?" Archie had given her a funny look that, that would be impossible.
"I dunno." She was more worried that he needed some help getting the place cleaned up. And he knew she was right. "I'll think of something."
"Will you now?" He couldn't help but smile.
"Yeah, I think we should all pitch in and help out. We're family." She kept smiling.
"You really think you're mother likes me that much?" Archie couldn't see Fish and Bella coming up.
"Of course she does." Archie had a feeling though Emily was just telling herself that.
"Look, it could be just the two of us." Really, there was no need to make this a family road-trip.
"No, I want my mother to know where you come from. She needs this. She does." Emily was sold on the idea.
"If you say so." Archie wasn't so sure he really liked this idea of hers. After all, it could backfire.
They kissed then in her room. Their room. He still felt as if he were in a foreign country. He had a drawer full of clothes now and his toothbrush in the bathroom. But it still felt as if he were just visiting. He had to admit. He couldn't wait until they had a place of their own, and he wasn't so sure he could make his parents' place his.
