"Do you think she's mad at me?" Archie asked Kat, Emily's mom.
"No, its not you, believe me." Kat took the baby from him, and Archie collapsed on the couch.
"She's afraid Dan might get a hold of you and take off somewhere and never come back with you," Kat said as she played with Gib.
Archie shook his head. He hadn't noticed Dan coming on to him. Really, what was the big deal. He just didn't see it. He thought it kind of funny, but then he remembered he should be worrying about the wedding.
"Why does it have to be so perfect, you know. Its just a wedding." Archie put his hands behind his head and looked at Kat who just couldn't get enough of Gib's little laugh.
"This is her first wedding." Kat shrugged.
"You think she'll have another one?" Archie winced. He didn't want to hear talk like that.
"Lets hope not." She smiled.
"Yeah, I hope not." Archie yawned.
"I'm sure it'll be perfect." She smiled. "The first three months or a little weird. Like trying to remember your new last name, and trying your best to make dinner amazing."
"But we've been sleeping together and you know." Archie sighed. "I always thougth I'd - well, not get married. Like, I'd go to a big church and see somebody get married, but not me."
"OK, I was the one at the big church in my dream, but I never knew who it was going to be. Kind of a nightmare, not knowing, you know. Then I'd wake up, 'that couldn't be me'....stuff like that." Archie shrugged.
"What about having kids?" Kat questioned
"I might like one now, or two. Two would be plenty. Not at once though." Archie yawned ready for sleep.
"Are you tired?"
"Kind of," he said. "Emily keeps waking me up at night."
"Should I ask why?" Kat looked at him.
"She's got a lot on her mind, I guess. So if she's awake, she wakes me up to talk about things." Archie smiled. He was glad she wanted to talk to him. He hoped she always wanted to talk to him.
