second guessing

Gordy was a little shocked that his mother would let Emily and Rosco move into the basement, but he didn't discuss it with her. It was just he wasn't sure why she'd do it. And as things had turned out, It was just Rosco in the basement.

It was a little hard to get used too. Seeing him. Knowing who he actually was. They weren't exactly friends. He guessed. He didn't feel indifferent toward him, either. Just odd.

He was doing his wash in the basement. The place really looked bare. There was just a sleeping bag rolled up where he used to sleep.

"Hey, camping out, now are you?" Gordy didn't want to scare Rosco who was coming in from somewhere.

"Yeah, it might take a while, get set up. My mom isn't too keen on me moving my bed in here." Rosco nodded.

Gordy noticed the little name tag from Baker's on his shirt then. "Gotta job. I see."

"Yeah, started out just, you know, stocking things at night, now I've been bumped up to price checker. Afternoons now."

"Cool."

"You had Jane's birthday party yet?" Rosco asked.

"Jane? Uh, no. Why?"

"You're Mom keeps asking about it." Rosco nodded.

"I see. Well, she'll be the first to know." Gordy put his wet laundry in the dryer.

"I think I found a drummer." Rosco stood there as if he had no where to go.

"A drummer?"

"Yeah, for the band."

Gordy just smiled. "You don't actually think its gonna happen, do you?"

"Maybe."

"Don't wish too hard now." Gordy told him.

"Yeah, I stopped that a long time ago." Rosco sighed.

"No word from your brother, huh? Not even Emily."

Rosco shook his head, no.

"I see. Sorry, dude. Maybe its best about this whole Emily thing. You know, you could be married to her. Scary, huh?" Gordy reached in the fridge then for a diet Dr. Pepper. He gave one to Rosco.

"So tell me about this drummer." They sat on the couch then.

"She's really tiny, but she's a punk when it comes to those sticks." Rosco told him.

"Hmm, sounds like you two were meant to make some music. You should try."

"I don't know."

"Don't look so sad about it." Gordy shrugged. "You need to do something you're gonna love."

Rosco nodded.

"Promise, you'll be there when we have Jane's party. Maybe you could bring that drummer along, too. What's her name?" Gordy asked.

"Carrie."

"Stop thinking what Emily might be thinking," Gordy gave him a long stare. "You know she hates everything."

So, what is Emily? Bipolar?

Can't wait to see how the band will pan out. And, of course, Jane's party.
